How does WalkBlock work?
Choose apps to block and set a daily step goal. WalkBlock reads your steps from the Health app. Until you hit your goal, those apps stay blocked. Each new day starts fresh around midnight.
It helps to open WalkBlock now and then to check your steps. Your phone does not always update blocks in the background on its own.
How do I unlock my apps?
Hit your step goal, then open WalkBlock. That is when your apps unlock for the rest of the day.
You do not need the app open while you walk. Many people open WalkBlock a few times a day to check steps or make sure blocks and unlocks are up to date.
Why are my apps not unlocking?
First, confirm you hit your daily step goal in the Health app or on the WalkBlock Dashboard.
Then open WalkBlock and stay on it for a moment. Pull down to refresh on the Dashboard if things still look stuck.
If nothing changes, go to WalkBlock Settings, scroll to Data, and tap Clear Blocked Apps. That removes your blocked app list and unlocks everything right away. You can add apps again afterward.
Apple allows a maximum of 50 blocked apps. If you selected more than that, blocking and unlocking may not work reliably. Remove some apps from your list and try again.
Should I open WalkBlock during the day?
Yes, when you can. Opening WalkBlock is the best way to check your steps and refresh blocking or unlocking. iOS does not always sync in the background right away, so a quick open after a walk or when you expect an unlock goes a long way.
Change my goal, apps, or clear everything
Daily goal: Dashboard, tap Daily Step Goal.
Blocked apps: Apps tab, tap Add Apps.
Clear everything: WalkBlock Settings, Data, tap Clear Blocked Apps. That wipes your blocked list and unlocks all apps immediately.
What if I do not finish my steps?
Your picked apps stay blocked until you reach your goal. Tomorrow you get a new count at midnight. Open WalkBlock anytime to see where you stand.
Steps are wrong or not updating
WalkBlock uses the same steps as the Health app. Open WalkBlock and pull down to refresh on the Dashboard.
If steps still look off, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → WalkBlock, or tap Manage Permissions in WalkBlock Settings and turn on Read Steps.
Is my data private?
Your steps, goals, blocked apps, and in-app Screen Time summaries stay on your device. If you use Friends, only your scores and username are shared for social features. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Still not working?
Sometimes connections between WalkBlock, HealthKit, and Screen Time break in ways a refresh cannot fix.
1. Restart your phone. This clears most stuck background processes and often resolves it on its own.
2. If restarting does not help, uninstall WalkBlock and reinstall it from the App Store. When you open it again, tap Restore Purchases on the paywall to get back to Pro without paying again. Your step goal and blocked app list will need to be set up again, but everything else resets cleanly.
3. If the issue persists after reinstalling, email us. We will get it sorted.
